Portland Farmers Market Reusable Bag Design Contest

We have been notified of a bag design contest for Portland Farmer's market! Details below:

In partnership with Portland Farmers Market, COUNTRY Financial is excited to announce the seventh annual Portland Farmers Market Reusable Bag Design Contest. The competition presents an opportunity for students to showcase their talent on reusable shopping bags that will be distributed at Portland Farmers Market locations throughout the city this season. And back by popular demand – Gallery Event with a People’s Choice winner.

This year’s theme is “Eat Fresh. Eat Local.” Students are encouraged to include imagery inspired by the spring/summer season and the corresponding regional market goods, such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, etc. We also encourage participants to illustrate the spirit of the city. Designs must include the words “2017 Portland Farmers Market.”

The reusable shopping bags are part of Portland Farmers Market’s initiative to promote healthy, environmentally friendly communities. Hundreds of Portland Farmers Market attendees will receive these custom designed tote bags this summer, free of charge.

The student who submits the winning design will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the opportunity to have his/her artwork displayed on reusable shopping bags distributed throughout the city. Additionally, two runners-up will each receive a $500 scholarship. These designs will be unveiled onSaturday, June 3 at the Portland State University Farmers Market,  and the three finalists will be invited to attend this event.

All entries must be received at the address below by Friday, April 14, 2016 at 5 p.m. PDT. If the entry is being sent by mail, please allow sufficient time for delivery by due date. If received after the deadline, there is no guarantee the artwork will be eligible. Winners will be notified through their schools or via phone/email the week of May 15.

All entries will be on display at the art gallery adjacent to the COUNTRY Financial office at 1468 NE Alberta St, Portland, OR 97211 during the week of April 24. Community members will be invited to vote for their favorite design.  The People’s Choice winner will receive a $250 scholarship,  though will not automatically become a finalist for the winning design.  Finalists remain the discretion of COUNTRY Financial and Portland Farmers Market.

Subcommittees

Here is the official list of the Lincoln High School NAHS subcommittees. 
Every member must be a part of at least one subcommittee and play an active role in doing their job.

1. Facilitators, organizers, and leaders are responsible for reviewing notes + creating agendas, following up with progress in other areas, organizing membership, and communicating with other leaders
2. Communicators are responsible for note taking, creating/updating blog, sending notifications, and making posters, bulletin, etc.
3. Events and calendar coordinators are responsible for scheduling workshops, in school events, and volunteering opportunities.
4. Fundraisers are responsible for managing the funds for different workshops and events.

Official Club Bylaws

These bylaws are a set of rules created by the Lincoln Chapter which are meant to go in conjunction with the official Club Constitution which is created by the National Art Honors Society:

• Required minimum attendance of coming to two club meetings every month
• Student must actively participate in volunteering or other opportunities set up by NAHS
• Members must be Junior/Senior at Lincoln High School and in a higher level art class
• All members must pay a due of $5
• To receive a cord at graduation, member must be active, involved and remain in good standing until graduation date
• Members must be actively taking part in advancing the club, and making sure they do their job in whichever subcommittee they chose to be a part of
• If a member is not actively completing everything set forward by the bylaws, they will be given a warning and if there is not an improvement then their membership will be cancelled
