National Portfolio Day

National Portfolio Day

National Portfolio Day this year is Nov 10 (Sunday) from 12 to 4 PM at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. The address is 511 NW Broadway, Portland, OR 97209. it's a very good opportunity for seniors to receive feedback on art portfolios if you plan on submitting one for college applications. it's also great for Juniors to start preparing their portfolio.

What is it?
"Attending a National Portfolio Day allows for the opportunity to meet over 60 of the nation’s top art and design institutions. You'll get direct feedback on your work and personal guidance on how to showcase your strengths before applying.

All National Portfolio Day events are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis."

Scholastic Art Awards 2019

Scholastic Art Awards 2019

The Scholastic Art Awards are coming up. The deadline to submit art is sometime in December or January. Once you make a scholastic account the specific deadlines will be visible on your home page. For every piece you submit it costs $5 and a submission form needs to be signed (instructions on how to do that are provided once you make an account). Seniors also have an option to submit a cohesive body of work. We highly recommend you submit a piece because a lot of people win, sometimes you can go on to the national level, and these rewards look great on resumes and college applications.

What are the awards?
"Students receiving Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, or American Voices & Visions Nominations are celebrated within their communities through local exhibitions and ceremonies. Gold Key works are then judged nationally by an impressive panel of creative–industry experts to receive National Medals, including Gold Medals, Silver Medals, American Voices & Visions Medals, Gold Medal and Silver with Distinction Portfolio Medals, and Special Achievement Awards. National Medalists are recognized in part at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City."
